No doubt Kevin Gorman has achieved much in his illustrious music career such as signing with DJ Hell’s notorious Gigolo Records imprint and releasing probably one of my favorite 12 inch release ‘DMX’ in 2006 and boy I can always rely on ‘DMX’ to send a spine tingling chill into my techno sets for the uninitiated!
Fast forward today and the English DJ/producer releases a more easy body of work into your ear palette with his ‘'Mikrowave 12’ EP released on his own label ironically called…um… Mikrowave, isn’t that funny?
Now with this EP…….its relatively easy to get into, there is no challenging complexities or any horse shit like that, it’s just a matter of plugging it in and play, heck even you most generic minimal DJs can add a little spice into those mundane minimal sets, especially you Auckland Djs!
This fabulous 4 track EP will put you on the edge of your seats with its dub like rhythms (such as “NEARLY”) or the darkest of dark brooding techno (such as ‘SHAKEY METAL BEATS’) or…or…..you know what I’m not going to tell you more because I’m not going to spoil it…….BUY THIS EP!!!
If there was a spice rack for minimal to not sound as boring as it comes across, it will be Kevin ‘freaking’ Gorman!!! Sure he’s out on his own releasing newer tracks on his Mikrowave imprint and not on Gigolo, but hey it will give him more Kudos to be a standout from the rest!
Overall buy this EP!!!!!! You’re minimal sets will thank you for it….along with your techno sets (if you’re that inclined)
