New (ish) London club night The Freakquency Beepshow brings you their New Years Eve shindig where they takeover LSE’s student union The Quad with three rooms of aural pleasure, silliness, prizes, karaoke and cheap as chips all night drinks promotions.
For this extravaganza they’ve drafted in Freestylers and Goldielocks who’ll be Djing in the Main Room alongside Slyde, Backstage Sluts and special to be announced guests. Room 2 is the Bonnie and Collide Karaoke Room where revellers and bands are encouraged to take over the mic and give it their best shot in front of the karaoke judges. Room 3 is hosted by regular Quad Djs Batteries Not Included.
The Freakquency Beepshow features the best in indie, electro, pop and rock at the London School of Economics’ student union The Quad. The 1,000 capacity, three-roomed venue will be serving cheap drinks all night too. A single mixer is £1.20, double £2.30, pints £1.30, glass of wine £1.20 and bottled beers £1.50. With prices like that a lot of people will be entering the New Year with less debt. Which makes a change.
The Freestylers are a force to be reckoned with. Their sound is rooted in hip hop but has evolved into a unique British concoction, taking in everything from dancehall to reggae, electro, soul and breakbeat to drum and bass. The duo’s unique blend of party sounds has seen them perform everywhere from Ibiza to Brazil along the way...
Goldierocks is Sam Hall; Dj, presenter and party planner du-jour. She is renowned for her energised Dj appearances, invading parties and aftershows all over the land - at some point in time, Sam's probably hijacked your fave indie/electro haunt. But she's much more than London's latest party-person, skilled DJing aside, Goldierocks is also growing her reputation as a respected producer, remixer, presenter and music journalist… Expect to be rocked to the core.
Slyde are FingerLickin’s very own duo of craziness, who apart from painting themselves blue and shouting through megaphones when they Dj they produce some of the most amazing breaks around. They are responsible for club tunes such as: ‘Vibrate to This’ and the ‘Sex 'N' Drugs’ track that Zane Lowe, Annie Mac et all cained the arse off, plus their clubland banger ‘Kiss Kiss Bang Bang’.
Backstage Sluts are Dj’s and the bad boys of breaks. Expect things to get dirty and twisted.
Now we’ve all got a bit of the Xfactor in us so why not reach your true potential and make a song your own with a bit of karaoke? All entrants will be judged by Bonnie and Collide who are a couple of self confessed tarts with one guitar, glockenspiel, two broken hearts, shocking vocals, rapping, sequins, power ballads, lycra, bad taste and good vibes.
They’ll be silly prizes given out on the night for the best (or indeed the worse) singers. They’ll also be karaoke competitions between bands, oh, and did you mention fancy dress?
Batteries Not Included will be hosting Room 3 where you can expect to hear the very best in indie, electro, rock and pop, starring Jimmy Mixtape and Cokes. Expect the unexpected.
