Ofeliadorme-Sometimes it’s better to wait

NF Rating:

By Conan

From Bologna, Italy comes Ofeliadorme who are a four piece acoustic/rock band that makes some thought provoking and at times, very emotionally driven music. Now I’m not one to know the inner guts of acoustic/rock music because it’s normally not my foray of genres that I plop into my ipod on the regular, but this is one EP that demands your attention for one brief moment of your time.

There are nuances of beautiful fret guitar playing coupled with some very beautiful vocals tones from Francesca Bono who sounds a lot like La Roux….funny that I make that comparison huh, but remove all of the electronic annoyances from La Roux’s music and you got Francesca voice.

It’s also has a very twisty layout with willow emotional moments to power ballad-like respite that will sure guaranteed repeat listens. The instrumentation is also mastered well so much so that you can really hear the acoustic tones and wood like sounds from this EP along with other additional natural noise such as typewriters and many other interesting sounds for you to discover.

“6:17 PM” starts off very slow with accompanying percussion taps sending you to melon collie euphoria, it’s just enticing!

‘New Pieces Of Science’ is my personal pick out of the lot which ends up being the longest track but its justified. The guitar playing is excellent scaling up and down the frets with a typewriter added as additional natural sounds, but the clincher his Francesca vocals, as you can really feel the emotion behind them.

“The Ballad of the Bitter End” comes off as a beautiful tune with some interesting sounds of xylophones, some synth lines and children playing in the background giving it some dense complexities.

Overall this EP is a total recommendation from us. Their lush wooden tone of guitars, minimal percussion coupled with natural sounds gives it standout shine from whatever is out there acoustically.

So go and pick it up in CD or digital form!
