tricky - council estate (outlaws vip monster mix)

Well look at what we got today in our inbox.......A funny image of Trip Hop artist, Tricky with a smiley face drawn on, and another wonderful remix of Tricky!

Yes this one is brought to you by the Outlaw Djs, and the letter 'T'.

"The original is pretty much Switch produced Drum and Bass vibes, but this is mid-tempo, so you can actually play it in one of those nightclub things. It's also got a monster bassline and loads of druggy spaced out noises. What's not to like?"

Sounds like a winner guys

Check it out

Also check out their mixtape also

The golden touch (So Gold)

By Conan The Destroyher!

With Baltimore (B-more) on the rise over in America with artist such as Spank Rock, Titsworth and Benny Bianco leading the way, we at the frames found this guy among the various blogs in the sphere that we're willing to put our money on as the one to look out for.

So Gold is a Baltimore/Club producer from Minneapolis, MN in the good ole U.S......of...A, who we were lucky enough to get in contact with, and he wonderfully donated a track for you to enjoy and discover kid!

Currently I'm listening to Kano's "I'm Ready" remixed by So Gold, and let me say its a phat arse track that needs a good rinsing on the dancefloor!

The track that we're giving away from So Gold is a remix of Madison avenue's "Everything You Need"....which does conjures up fond memories of that one hit wonder hit "Don't call me baby". Thankfully this track is B-more'd for your listening pleasure

Thanks once again to So Gold for donating to the cause, and if you want more info on the guy.....you're not going to find him on Facebook

SO GO ON NOW....GIT!

DJ BARLETTA

By Conan The Destroyher

The name DJ BARLETTA may not ring immediate bells with mainstreamers, but his remix work does speak volumes when it comes to his genre-crossing with electro, all the way through to mainstream pop which we at the Frames have a liking to.....Much like Tommie Sunshine, BARLETTA does some fantastic remixes of pop stars such as Madonna, Lil Wayne, mochipet to bloghouse hero Oh Snap!

In fact DJ BARLETTA got my attention when an unorthodox remix of Ashley Simpson-Wentz song "Outta My Head" made it into a Palms Out "Remix Sunday" care package. Seriously I couldn't stop banging this shit out, it was goddam catchy!

You're probably thinking "ASHLEY FUCKING SIMPSON@!!! WTF!!!!!" yeah its true her music is not that great, but if you listen to the DJ BARLETTA remake, you'll think twice about it! See and that's the beauty of certain remixes, as long as it doesn't contain certain cheese factors, you would appreciated more!

Maybe the original tune sucked and it needed a good remix job, which is what he has done here!

We recently got in touch with DJ BARLETTA and he was kind enough to give us some tunes (see it doesn't hurt to ask you know) to give out to all our readers! So check out the tunes that he has added his touch to and discover the joys of good pop remixing!

Lil wayne-lolipop (Dj Barletta Rmx)(320 Kbps)
Syntonics-Dont Stop Pop (DJ barletta rmx) (320 Kbps)
Oh Snap!!-Hi Top Fade (DJ bArletta rmx)(320 Kbps)

Let's Go to War - Life we live (DJ BArletta Rmx) (256 Kbps)
Dj Barletta-Boggle (256 Kbps)
Golden Girls - Do the Criminal (dj barletta remix)(320 Kbps)
madonna - 4 minutes (Dj Barletta Rmx)(320 Kbps)

SWV-YOURE THE ONE (NORRIT REMIX)

By Conan the Destroyher

This is a fantastic remix of an SWV track from way back in the day. NORRIT states that the remix is an ongoing series of bootlegs from those 90s girl tracks, the r&b / hip hop joints all with similar themes (sex). Sounds interesting and we can't wait to hear more from NORRIT's experimental bootlegs.

In fact this one could end up on my charts seems as how I've burnt this joint on every new CD I've made for this weeks radio show....

So check it out and myspace the cool dude!

One of electro house's newest names on the scene. With his original production style and form of live synths integrated into a traditional vinyl/CD DJ set. Matt started in the late 90's playing at parties around the Los Angeles areas underground party scene. With his focus more on production than DJing in the last few years, Matt is building his distinct style and innovative approach to EDM. So if you see Matt's name on a party flyer near you, don't miss it, because your in for a great time!

By Conan The Destroyher

Conans Top ten

(image from The Age of Conan game)

Brand new to the Nerdy Frames is my Top 10 tunes for this week. This selection is based on the frequent airplay these tunes get on my radio show or just general airplay altogether.

The tunes are either from various blogs around cyberland, or they're from artists that we have contacted via email.

I don't have a system to go by, its just whatever I'm feeling at the time, who knows this weeks number 1 would most likely go on for another 5 more weeks, hell even a year!

These tunes are legally cleared from the remixes and artists themselves, so these should be guilt free downloads and they're set at the 320 Kbps .MP3!

So here is your top 10

  1. TENACIOUS D-TRIBUTE (SCOTT HARRIS' NOT THE GREATEST REMIX)
  2. midnight juggernauts - road to recovery (miami horror remix)
  3. Nine Inch Nails - Thats What I Get (Computer Club Remix)
  4. Gerome Sportelli - Growth
  5. Disco Trash Music - hacksaw lover
  6. Kids on T.V-We Are The New Keith Cole
  7. Tittsworth-Broke ass n_gga (the glass remix)
  8. RAC-Super Mario Bros (RAC Mix)
  9. Metalica-Master of Puppets (aUtOdiDakT Remix)
  10. RATM - Bulls On Parade (DJ Kue Remix)
Congratulations to Scott Harris for his blog house ripper of a tune Tenacious D's-Tribute (Scott Harris' Not The Greatest Remix) being this weeks number 1 on my charts...Seriously who would have thought to remix that tune?....it's just pop genius at its best!

Give him some love at his myspace!

SHOOK

By Conan The Destroyher

This just arrived in the nerds inbox just this morning and its some ultimate 80s electro from Shook. Shook is from the Netherlands, and he was born in "1986" As a young kid, Shook saw a light falling from the sky.

It was the same night he stumbled on a pair of mysterious looking sun glasses. Shook wasn't a big fan of taking worn items he had found in the forest home, but against his principles he picked up the glasses and put them in his pocket. At that moment Shook felt a shiver running through his spine. A strange feeling came over him. He didn't know what it was, but it felt as if someone – or something – was lurking in the dark, watching him.

Shook was gracious enough to give us some tunes for you to download and blast out (and yes Deejays, you can play these choice tunes at your nearest certified soundsystem near you). And I will be playing them this week on my radio show here in Auckland on Fleet FM, so listen out for that!

If you want to know about Shook, please show him some love and visit his myspace page

Our fellow Vector brother in crime, Bat Tao Lo will be having a joint exhibition in Barcelona this weekend which will coincide with Sonar Festival. Bat Tao Lo works will be featured with many others in this exhibition. I'm still wondering about the whole Sushi Girls thing that he will be displaying, hopefully some photos will be available!

The details of the exhibition can be viewed at this website

Artwork By Bat Tao Lo

As well as his up and coming exhibition in Barcelona, Bat Tao Lo has been gracious enough to give us some of his tunes to you, the reader to demo and enjoy because this is a audio blog you know! So enclosing is an email explaining his influences and reasons behind these tracks

Hi Nerdy Frames,
If you're interested in this stuff, my influences are 60's Hippie Music, addNtoX, Electrelane, (Spanish band) Glamour To Kill, Freddy fender (can that guy sing or what? Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up), Brazilian Girls, The Andrews Sisters, My Bloody Valentine (mostly coz the bass player had a thing for my ex and dedicated "Clare" to her at one of their gigs - not exactly true - she did but I liked them anyway) (Come to think of it Buster Bloodvessel dedicated "My Girl Lollipop" to my girlfriend Gill "Gillipop" too. Not sure if was before or after he fucked her but that's neither here nor there) These days, I try to stay away from pop-stars. Well, I keep my wife away from them at least, Neil Young, Kraftwerk, T Rex (I had my hair like Bolan's when I was a tender boy of 18), Throbbing Gristle (coz I lived next door to them), Tom "can do almost nothing wrong" Waits. Actually most of these bands have had a small influence (With the exception of Bad Manners).

Because I'm one of those rich Mac users, I'm also influenced by the incredibly easy to use Garageband, although they have to get some better samples for christs sake - who the hell wants twenty-five Southern Rock Guitar samples?

I don't listen to much new stuff these days and I sure as fuck don't get this "Burial" thing at all. I tried to listen without prejudice but to me it's as dull as dishwater. Not too enamoured by The Raveonettes either. Am I say too much? Bet you really like the Raveonettes and I've completely fucked it.

So here are some tracks for you to enjoy!

digitalosmosis

By Conan The Destroyher!

We have been snowed under with alot of promo work here at The Frames, that we do our darnedest to get those write-up's, recommendations, and as much press quotes at the ready for our rather minority-like readership! We do tend to forget those producers who were nice enough to send us some links for us to preview and plug their music here in Auckland...and with that we apologize!

So let's get the promoting shall we?

Digitalosmosis sent us a missive which went some like this:

Hi There,

Well flattery will get you everywhere my friend. So here are some nice tracks for you to listen and enjoy. And yes we will be plugging digitalosmosis on our radio show here in Auckland! And thanks for the complements my friend!

Rolling Stones-Sympathy For The Devil (Tommie Sunshine's Peak-Hour Lucifer Edit)

By Conan The Destroyher!

Well Get Weird Turn Pro is slowly drip feeding us hungry bloggers more rare Tommie Sunshine remixes as the blogger was mentioned on a video interview from the man himself So you got 20 rare remixes huh? Better not hold out on us!

In all honesty we at the Frames love Tommie Sunshine's approach to remixing...seriously. Much like the band Soulwax, if an artist is remixed by Tommie, he or she is immediately consider cool by association!

Rest assured that we will be keeping an electronic eye out for more rare remixes from Tommie over the coming weeks, and we will be posting them here (in case Get weird needs some backup).

This week is the Rolling Stones "Sympathy For The Devil (Tommie Sunshine's Peak-Hour Lucifer Edit)"

Click on it and enjoy kids

A blog entry about a blog!

By Conan the Destroyher

Under any to no habituates whatsoever, I when on a digital dig into a relentless blog which I thought was never ending trip into hell, because the links just kept on coming and fuck all this started exactly around 5a.m in the morning, talk about being an addict to downloads sweet jesus I don't think I'll ever want to shop at an online .mp3 store ever again.......un you know what, don't quote me on that!

The blog in question was a blog named http://vibe4me.blogspot.com/, which houses the shittiest house music in all of blogsviles, I kid you not! Names like Roger Sanchez, Pryda, Deadmau5, Dirty South, Vandalism, Dave Spoon, Feddy le Grand, laidback Luke, Tommy Trash, Axwell Sebastian Ingrosso, TV Rock, The Potbelleez and.....and... ho ho wait a minute! Why do these names sound awfully familiar...That's right, since 5am in the morning leading up to whatever is timestamped on this blog entry, I've become every Auckland wanker DJ, every douchebag, and everything that I stand against!

Yes that's right look at those names! Every one of those names are DJs who have visited Auckland at some stage of last year, or some of their records (.mp3) have been played at some wanky Auckland club! Oh god I feel sick, I'm going puke!

So why did I go for the gang bang of downloading then? I really don't know to be honest. I've always had a serious compulsive disorder when it comes to downloading. But now I feel like a jackass downloading all that garbage from that fucking blogsite! So what to do?.........well I could delete the tracks from my desktop, or I can give it to you guys, but I must warn you as a friend and as a fellow blogger within the blogsphere community that the tracks are some of the most vile and the most putrid of cheeseburger house ever! And its infested with Australian Ebola that will rot your brain and your music tastes!

If the horrors of seeing Vandalism at Our House live, or ear rotting remixing of Dirty South shit productions are not your cup of tea, then you have been warned!

The one thing that astounds me about the blog where I got the tracks from was the fact that you'll be put into a trance of trying to look for active links, and as soon as you go deep into the crevice of the archive, it becomes a never-ending race to try get out of the blog and trying to find that indication of a non seeing "Older post" link.

Well I've wasted a perfectly good Thursday afternoon...but hey at least I won't feel guilty uploading that junk onto the next "Big Wednesday" haul! I think I'm going to lie down now!

And no I will not add that abomination of a blogsite onto my links table...I think I've suffered enough!

diego_0 and dalton (D &D)

By Conan the Destroyher!

Well these producers nowadays are getting younger and younger (and my ass is getting older and older. I'm 30 BTW) but I've just receive some tunes via the inbox by way of Miami from 2 youngsters aptly named Diego_0 and Dalton.

Dalton (18 y.o) has been honing his DJing skills for 2 years after wanting to sample funk records to make hip hop beats, and then he started making house beats. Diego_0 is his production partner in crime.

Now the tunes that I got from the boys are a lovely mixbag of funk, indie, house, punk with tiny bits of electro thrown in for good measure. Examples that I'm talking about is Dalton's remix of Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music", oh how camp of you Dalton, it does take me back (Hey I'm not that old!)

Another good remix that I found interesting is a remix of Tilly and the Wall "Nights of the Living Dead" which we at the Frames are always striving out to producers and remixers. I mean sure you have your run of the mill house remixes of indie bands that sounds rather cheesy, but this here has an interesting balance, dare I dirty, dark and very rock n roll ish?

Overall I like what I hear from the boys and I hope you do too. Yes they maybe young at first but give them time and I'm sure that the Miami bred remixers will grow on you. I hope they consolidate themselves asap as stated in the message I got from them.

Check them out at their respected myspace pages and give em some love

DJ KUE (hit of the week)

By Conan The Destroyher (samples of his bio are in this entry)

Wowsers, DJ Kue is the mang man! Over the past couple of shows on Fleet FM, I've done nothing but jam this man's great music over Auckland's low powered signals and got nothing but good feedback.

The kudos didn't stop there either, I was scheduled to play Fleet FMs first club night "Fleet Vs. Sleep" to my first ever packed audience and I dropped his lovely take on The Shangri-Las "Leader of the Pack" which in turn drove everyone apeshit! I kid you not friends! I even accidentally played it back 2 back and everyone was just feeling it.

Okay enough from me, but yes Dj Kue.

Hailing from SAN JOSE, California his production skills is fantastic beyond words even if any indie kid who won't admit to listening to pop will indeed change his/her mind when you first listen to his various remixes of pop, rock, hip hop, funk, soul, grunge, MOR and..........emo, yes even emo gets the Kue touch!

His music has been garnering support from Judge Jules, DJ Dan, Donald Glaude, Charles Feelgood and many others. Of course yours truly will be rocking his tunes exclusively out to any club or listening party around Auckland, and that's a Guaranteed!

Plus he his now approaching his 15th year in Djing, he has been known for innovating his own style, taking the listeners on a journey through music.

It is not only Kue's track selection that one should look out for, but his constant manipulation of tracks through the use of of doubles, vigorous scratching and other turntablism techniques. With a combination of great track selection and turntablist techniques, he does what he can to rock a party right!

We at the frames would like to make him our hit of the week, and we've got some tunes (all at 320 Kbps. Please do not resell!) that we managed to get from the man himself!

But first, as always go give him some myspace love at

Big Wednesday (delayed space time continuum)

By Conan the Destoryher

I've been having a battle with my conscious on whether or not I should continue to do the whole Big Wednesday giveaway now that this blog has picked up some momentum and generating some buzz thanks to the lovely people who had a heart to give the little blog that could a chance by putting us into their links!

Now when I first started out giving HQ MP3s, it was to give dividends to the blogs out there that risk life n limb to go beyond what a fan is both allowed to say or upload onto his (or her) blog! Another reason always for giving out the HQ Mp3s was because Beatport's infamous "Territory restriction". Yes come on you know the deal about Beatport and that...that...rule!

As always I would like to hear from you. If you think I should maintain a professional attitude and basically not upload HQ MP3s then let me know. If not well I'm only going to do the whole "Big Wednesday" every once in a while.

Otherwise enjoy these selections!
