Weird Jpop Cover art

By Conan The Destroyher!

Another new segment to the Frames is an in depth look at Jpop by way of viewing their Album cover art. Think of this as a more visual extension from what we normally post for our Jpop Fridays. Yeah sure we post youtube videos of some of the hottest Jpop stars (sorry to the woman readership of our blogs, we couldn't find any hot Japanese guys for you to peruse.......give us time), but with this, we want to examine the layout, aesthetics, funky typography and what the message is conveyed on the cover itself.

Yeah we know that we run the risk of being alienated by the Bloghouse community for acquiring a rather bizarre and obsessive hobby (if you can call it that!), but bearing in mind this is what we've collectively grew up with. So try and stomach the cuteness overload with this entry.....

So here is an examination into the world of Jpop (you have been warned!)

Our thoughts: She has that look in her eye that says "Oh fuck me"

Our thoughts: Its just a pair of eyes with feathered bangs, so what!

Our thoughts: This chick has got to be the blackest Japanese woman in all of Shinjuku

Our thoughts: If nerdy frames needed a booth babe, this chick wins hands down!

Our thoughts: She is soooo going to fire her gay stylist!

Our thoughts:Is this the missing soundtrack for the movie "The Ring"?

And finally

Our thoughts:"Check out my cool ass Alt hoodie. I'm sooo with the in crowd"

See you next week for another round of "Weird Jpop Cover art"

Jpop Fridays

By Conan the Destroyer!

Well for this returning edition of our favorite segment (and we don't care if you guys don't like Japanese music) we focus on past influences.

Pizzicato Five have shaped the topography of J-Pop forever, by being the best export from the land of the rising sun,and being loved the world over. And although the band have moved on (Maki Nomiya had a baby, while Yashuharu Konishi runs ******** records) many of their tunes still ring a resonance towards my attitude in regards to contemporary music today.

So for Jpop Fridays, we salute you Pizzicato Five!

Pizzicato Five - Contact

Pizzicato Five - Baby Love Child

Pizzicato Five - Lesson 3003 (Part I)

Pizzicato Five - Lupin The 3rd

Jpop Fridays

This one is a special AYUSE KOZUE Tribute!

(from http://wiki.theppn.org/Main_Page)

Beginning from at least junior high school, Ayuse Kozue had aimed to become a singer and joined her school's dance team, hoping to fulfill that dream.

She starred in two DVD's released in 2000, before joining the dance group Selfish ART in 2001.

During high school, Kozue began studying desktop music (MIDIs, etc) through a music course and bought her first computer. After hearing one of her pieces, Towa Tei signed on as her creative director. In February 2006 Kozue released her first analog, the single boyfriend. It hit the top of CISCO's House chart for three weeks, and in April the single was released to iTunes. She was also featured as their Free Download for the first week in April. Around two weeks later, the single was released in CD format. She continued to release music in the following months with all lyrics, composition, and arrangement based on a producer she had met.

So here are some videos from AYUSE KOZUE for this weeks edition of Jpop Friday's

AYUSE KOZUE "Pretty Good"

AYUSE KOZUE "eyes to eyes"

AYUSE KOZUE "boyfriend"

AYUSE KOZUE "KIMI NO YASASHISA"

AYUSE KOZUE "Sundae Love"

Also check out ThePPN wiki for more info on Asian Pop Culture, and check out AYUSE KOZUE Myspace page for more information on tours, releases, and other related AYUSE KOZUE things
