What were our contributions to this festive month of musical crapness?.......We outed singer songwriter Anika Moa!.........But for the love of god end this nightmare already!
Well we're shy away from 3 weeks till New Zealand Music Month ends, 3 agonizing weeks!
We were going to review Disasteradio's Debut, but we've gone fat 'n lazy with other reviews......Verdict on the Disateradio's "Visions" album......Fantastic! Go get it now!!!!!!!
Oh yes we would like to add that New Zealand Music Month supports capitalism! That is all!
At the risk of sounding like a cheap Perez Hilton crossover paired with the trashiness which is Gossip columnist Bridget Saunders from Stuff.co.nz, we at the Frames have ourselves a little scandal on one of New Zealand's successful singers, which may not sound like news to you or you may have already heard it somewhere, but its time to crush some heterosexual hearts (Anika's people start writing those retraction orders).
Its been rumored that Anika Moa's sexuality has been hidden for quite some time, which I would understand, but what the hey. If you boys had a ranging hard on for this lovely yet foul mouthed singer, well its time we at the Frames crush those nuts for ya.
Anika Moa is a lesbian and for a long time! A reliable source has confirmed that she has been going out with another one of our up and comers Anna Coddington
Anna Coddington who also fronts another band "Duchess" is sure giving us straights a run for our money...I mean look at her. Tell me that you wouldn't want to hit that!
The Frames also suspected Kara (Pictured second, far left) from the recently canceled music show "Coast" as one of Anika's Flings, seems as how they're always hanging out getting chummy and all. Can everyone say Ménage à trois?
So we at the Frames congratulate not only our favorite singer (yes we would tap that), but now our favorite public domain lesbian.
A complimentary two headed dildo gift package will be sent from our offices to your home very soon Anika, you know for those Ménage à trois that we dream of.
We love you!
BTW: At least it can't get any worse for ya. This bitch right hear posed for FHM

WE AT THE FRAMES BELIEVE IN ONES TALENT
LOOK OUT THIS WEDNESDAY FOR OUR HONEST TO GOD REVIEW ON DISASTERADIO'S NEW ALBUM: VISIONS
Yeah!.......which means we won't be posting shit from New Zealand hahahaha.
But hey its not our fault. Its just we don't have anything worth giving away for New Zealand Music month, just more of the same. Besides we already feel guilty giving away music from our collection for free, so we don't need that added pressure thank you very much!
But in the spirit of all good propaganda, we at the frames have a PDF file of our mashup logo, so you can support New Zealand Music Month, Nerd style
Make stickers, posters, slap it on a tee shirt, whatever just spread the love of New Zealand Music Month.
Well here's something we should answer to the 3 people who bother to even read our blog and that is..........When is everything going to be back to normal? 'Like when am I going to have my moments of smashing it big with 'Big Wednesday'? Or where's conan's top 5? Or have you (editor) recovered from that weird elbow infection?'
Well to answer all of that, it has gone back to normal (or what the worlds perception of normal is?). Posts are flying out the windows XP window, and shit is just getting better with new posts that the crew has been posting recently (notice that I've said 'post' 3 times within this paragraph?)
IHEARTCOMIX.COM & another reliable source has provided the fodder for us unreliable stupid arse Aucklanders to get with the program in the real world of music. None of this secret handshake bullshit or fellatio to some record company big wig or even trying to anally fuck some gay arse superstar DJ to get to the top of things!
No we at the nerd do it like it was the underground railroad, you know with the secret messaging and shit to our hommies on the front line of syndicated radio, pirate radio and wherever we can get that message across!
Here in New Zealand its 'New Zealand Music Month', a month that proves yet again that we as a nation still have this inferior complex towards Australia as Australia don't have a music month to prove that their music scene is 10 times better, faster, stronger than ours! I mean whats with all the hype with The Mint Chicks? Tui Nominations, now fucking Australia's MTVVA!
That's Ruban Nielson hanging off some scaffolding. Remind you of At The Drive In anyone?
Can I go out on a limb and say that I don't like The Mint Chicks?........Well can I?
After some intensive and extensive research, these guys have packed their bags and made their way Stateside to Portland, Oregon! Yes much like any Kiwi mans dream, to be American, just like the hommies who live in South Auckland!
Now let's Parlay this fact on another band from New Zealand, The Brunettes. Yep the band that consist of a man and a woman (a some backup band) and gross generalization of tween pop!
The band has made tracks Stateside also (I think they're signed to Sub-Pop.....I think) by moving to America, or it could be this other rumor that lead singer and xylophonist Heather Mansfield is married to her American Boyfriend.
Okay you're wondering 'is there a point to this?' Why yes there is........In order to make some form of living from your music here in New Zealand, you have to be a conformist, otherwise Helen Clarke will have to tell you to leave New Zealand, live in a small town in the U.S. and never come back, leaving more room for shit fuck artist like Opshop, Goodnight Nurse, Scribe, Mareko and Shapeshifter! (YES I HATE THIS FUCKING BAND SHAPESHIFTER. IF I HEAR ONE MORE ASSHOLE UTTER THE BANDS NAME IN MY PRESENTS, I WILL GO JESUS MEGA GRIM CHRIST ON THEM AND SMASH THEM BACK TO THE STONE AGES!@!#@$#$# )
And with Auckland still being a huge Polynesian city, New Zealand Hip Hop will still have some dominance here with the wealth of resources available for New Zealand shit hop fans such as radio stations, iwi stations, magazines, websites and record labels! I as Islander endorse those bands who keep it traditional with brown music. And please stop infusing rap into your tunes! Please!@@! For the last time we're brown, not black so stop it young sid!
So in conclusion take a real listen to what's out there New Zealand, a nice long listen, and if you got a friend that's in a band that refuses the dogma which is New Zealand Music Month, tell em Helen Clarke says hi and now fuck off.
Now lets boost that hater readership up a notch with this entry. Next month is New Zealand Music Month, and with all honesty I haven't brought any New Zealand music..........ever!
Now you maybe thinking how unpatriotic of you not to support your homegrown backyard!
Believe me I would support it, but its just my tastes are hard to penetrate or please for that matter. Last year alone I've laid witness to my fair share of mostly downers from the industry and scenes which resulted from mediocre to downright disappointing music from Aotearoa!
With this entry, I will do my best not to drop band names at the risk of being more alienated than I already am, but I'll try to keep the whole thing civil and justifiable as possible.
First lets start with the Tui Awards. My definition of the Tui Awards is that you must be a complete utter sellout to receive one of these badboys, and I know what you're going to say 'What about Fat Freddys Drop?' Yeah what about them? Well for starters their album 'Based on a true story' went gold without any marketing from a major record label, and in 2006 it took out almost all the categories at the Tui Awards for Best Group, Best Album, Best New Zealand Roots Group and the Peoples Choice Award. (slightly sampled from wikipedia)
In all honesty 'Based on a true story' is by all accounts a very good album. Its well thought out, arrangements are good, vocals spot on and soulful and instrumentation is on par meaning those Tui accolades were well deserved. Now I'm basing this on people who'd played some of the tracks to me,which means that I will have to get myself a copy of the album and I would highly recommend it. But then again why should I tell you, the facts are clearly stated on the last paragraph (see above!). And can this feat be replicated at last years Tuis? Well............................................
Now back to the Tuis. Well in my opinion, anything that is broadcasted on C4 equals overhyped, overblown and overall crass! Case in point. This video!
Arriving in limos, that idiot Shavaughn Ruakere interviewing every musician with that rather whoreish voice of hers. I swear, if I got pulled to the side by this woman and having to go through that interview ordeal with her, I would soooo go Bjork on her ass! How can anyone stand this woman? Why do you give her employment C4? Just cut her pussy off and be done with it!
Now lets analyze the artists nominated at last years Tuis..............Well I can tell you that all those who were nominated are signed to majors such as BMG, Sony, and Universal. The Mint Chicks (think stage antics of the former At the Drive in) are now at the Tuis. I would had associated them with something like the Bnets.....Oh well!
I want to touch on one of the winners at the awards..............Hollie Smith! Her categories wins are as follows:
MAZDA BEST FEMALE SOLO ARTIST
KIWI FM BREAKTHROUGH ARTIST OF THE YEAR
BEST PRODUCER
Now I'm not putting a downer on her wins, but her music is sooooooo depressing! I'm serious I can't stomach her music, I feel like killing myself when I hear her sing.
"Bathe in the river" which was featured in the soundtrack of Toa Frasier motion picture NO.2 was pretty much the turn off point for me to Hollie 's music altogether.I swear If someone was on suicide watch, I would offer this album as his or her solution to offing themselves.
Overall the Tuis don't do it for me because I don't buy any of my music from The Warehouse (as noted by Brooke Frasier winning THE WAREHOUSE HIGHEST SELLING NZ ALBUM for Albertine) nor support any of the majors labels. So if you love industry cocksucking, then the Tuis should do for you. Okay now how about them Bnets?
Well from what I saw on the Bnet website I'm very impressed. Now with the Bnets its not as corporate driven as the Tuis! These awards give credence to independent artists who have the power of the Bnetwork and student radio along with the peoples votes (via its website).
Now there are alot of indie and alternative artist that are voted into the Bnet awards, which as I said earlier is good for those who aren't signed to major labels, and are dependent on radio play to plug their music when other means are exhausted!
The only gripe with the Bnets I got is with some of its music. Excluding the Electronic, hip hop and Downbeat categories cause they're favs of mines, I'm focusing more on the Rock, Pop and Live categories in particular the Alt Rock slash punk bands. How alternative can alternative music be? Because believe me there is alot of shit out there that is passed off as "Alternative" music, to me it just feels like maybe more band practice should have been enforced or maybe they should learn to play their instruments a little bit better? I don't know its my opinion and its just a minor gripe.
Overall the Bnets get my vote. Nothing glamorous, just straight up to the business! Yeah that's right no limos, or fancy red carpet or some washed up What Now star annoying you with her whorish voice, it just cuts straight into the juggler! Extra points to the Bnet for keeping that quoter up for New Zealand Music, because most of the Deeejays on B do play more variety into their shows which is what I like.
Now with that said, what on earth is George FM going to do for their part for New Zealand Music Month? Come on you can only play so much Dick Johnson and Greg Churchill remixes!
I know thats a gross generalization of George Fm I'm saying here, but they were originally marketed as a Dance music station. But if you want me to say something nice about George FM then just keep your ears out for the following shows that will fill that NZ quoter.
The George selector shows Chocolate Sundae with Gene Rivers P.U.B.E The Beatlicks Show with Isaac Aesili Double Up with Jefe Mañana & Lisa from Down the Road And In The Pocket with Nyntee.
In conclusion, my relationship with New Zealand Music is more of a Bi-polar relationship. I'm not entirely opposed to the idea, just hesitant and cautious.
Just recently I've been listening to Anika Moa and Anna Coddington. I DONT KNOW IM A BIG SUCKER FOR FOLK MUSIC!@#@!!!! Disasteradio's album "Visions" is a good one also so be on the lookout for reviews from moi on some of the artists mentioned here in this blog entry!
So I would like to wish everyone a happy NZ Music Month.

Demo Policy
Yes thats right, we are appealing to the greater music community in particular any bedroom producers or bands who are into the whole 'faster but slower' mentality.
We are looking for music to play not only on our radio show on Fleet FM (88.3), but at clubs, sanctioned listening gigs, parties around Auckland and where ever a sound system is located, we'll spin it!
(1) All music must be your own and must not breech any copyright whatsoever. We still however want bootlegs, mash-up's and remixes, but as a measure we want to cover ourselves in case of an impending lawsuit from big fatcat record companies.
(2) We will not re-distribute or re-sell your music. We simply want to play and promote your music here in New Zealand.
Nerdy Frames is a non profit blog, which means that we won't profit anything from re-selling your music.
We are just providing a channel for you to be promoted here in New Zealand and garner some interest on your behalf!
(3) We will also provide a playlist with the artist name, title track and year. So you better make sure that you fill in those ID3 tags if you want props!
(4) We are always deluged with mp3 submissions,so there maybe a likely chance that we might not play your submission on our next podcast right away or our radio show. But hey who knows right, just be patience!
(5) All submissions must be at 320Kbps for MP3s, or a raw WAV. file. We do not take any other formats (Because we're all PC users, and Macs are for the rich) or accept any Variable Bitrate submissions! Yes we do check all submissions for audio quality and bitrates. We will also take 192kbps Mp3s
(6) Upload all files to Zshare, Media fire or any free sever, or provide a direct link from your band site.
