Sohomo.....The aftermath (and me bagging on about our wonderful blog)

By Conan The Destroyher

I've notice on these club forums that they have a thread dubbed "The Aftermath" in which someone starts it off like "The gig was ight", and so on....so lets start with our take on last weeks Sohomo (and please ignore the flyer above, cause I didn't go to Wellington)

A pict from the Sohomo club night

I went to the "MIDWINTER SOLSTICE" themed event which is rightfully named its appropriate title due likely that it was colder than fuck to be out on a Thursday night....So in I went, and it was good to see couple of familiar faces and some new ones. Of course they were all here to not only dance their asses off to the beat, but to see the lovely glam dolls of electro/clash band, "Charlie Ash" who were due to perform around midnight.

Unrelated Sohomo shot of Roise (Hey don't blame us! The damm photographer didn't get us talking!!!
We are now hiring our own photographer!)

I caught up with Rosie from "The Ash" in which we spoke about various things...well mostly about this blog, and the wonderful band "Kids on TV" in which both of us agreed upon that somebody with big pockets should bring their asses over! It's a reassuring feeling that your blogged is read by a cool ass band like "Charlie Ash"..well they do read it, but it would be nice if someone dropped a comment or 2...you know, show the Frames some love....sigh!

Another unrelated sohomo shot...We are now hiring!

As I let Rosie do her band set up thing, I had a good old catch up with fellow web head, Andrew Tidball of "Cheese on Toast". It was good to talk to a fellow web head because you can relate to what ones is up to in their own part of cyberspace. Of course we do come from different parts of the musical spectrum. I'm from the Nu Wave slash Blog house scene, while Mr.Tidball is from the indie rock slash alternative scene, but hey it's love via html and opinions! I congratulated Mr. Tidball on acquiring a spot on George FM.

Lets hope it remains a permanent fixture, cause that radio station seriously needs to diversified into other forms of music besides dance and funk!

Now lets get to the event itself. I do have 2 gripes about the gig, first was the Dj who was playing around 10pm, I'm not sure what his name is, but he was playing dance music which by all accounts should have been mixed, and mixed well. Yes I know that Djs like Andrew Tidball is selecting somewhat, but you got to realise that he's playing a myriad of genres which is excusable, but when someone is playing dance music, you gots to mix it, not select it, unless you know how to segue properly...luckily this was later rectified by Sohomo resident A.D.A.M.

A pict from the Sohomo club night

Second gripe was with the photographer..........WHERE IS THE PHOTO THAT HAD ME AND ANDREW TIDBALL????.I didn't see the little viewer screen, but I do recall you taking a picture of us...Hell I remember you telling me to hold your drink while you took the damm snap.......What's a matter, I broke your camera with my prettiness? I demand that photo!!!! It was perfect picture of 2 web heads united under our undying love for our musical tastes...IT WAS PERFECT!!!!!! It would be nice to refer to Andrew as a blogger, but Cheese on Toast is more like a informative music website....but hey beggars can't be choosers...(Damm you Photog!)

However I will give Sohomo its dues when it comes to great snaps. In fact the Sohomo crowd are the most behaved and they don't resort to doucheness of using fingers......

Hey put those things away you douche bag!

Other than that, most of the punters at Sohomo (of the Gay, Straight and Lesbian persuasion) are the most expressive, and know when to strike a pose...an appropriate pose. I mean why the fuck do idiots of the mainstream dance persuasion have to ruin a good photo op by doing the fucking "West Side" fingers, or better yet the "Bird"....it just proves your utter douche-ness which should never be tolerated by any photographer!

And another thing..........

A pict from the Sohomo club night

OHHHHH ISN'T THIS CUTE? GOD IF ONLY I HAD AN ASIAN
GIRL-FRIEND.....I HEARD THEY'RE HOT IN BED...
WHICH IS WHY I'M STILL SINGLE
BECAUSE I SAY SHIT LIKE "ASIANS ARE HOT IN BED"

A pict from the Sohomo club night

Charlie Ash was on and the band was exceptionally rocking that night. Some of the members were dressed as if they came back from a prom night in the 70s that went wrong...okay that was a bad choice of words, but they did dress like that on stage...seriously! Their live performance went down a treat with the Sohomo Punters!

A pict from the Sohomo club night

They played "Oh Baby", "Blood Red Sleeve", "Electro/Sexual" and.......okay I forgot some of them okay! I wish I had a camera, cause I did see a set-list on Mailee's synth prior to their performace.....dang it! Sorry Charlie Ash, I'm such a bastard!!!!! I did however saw in total 9 songs on the set-list, its just I wasn't that familiar with some of them....um yeah just blame it on the fact I was drunk at the time (even though I don't drink)

A pict from the Sohomo club night

Probably the big ruin it moment for me while enjoying Charlie Ash was the idiot bitch who kept grabbing Mailee's Synth during one of their performances, in which Rosie retorted "as pretty as Mailee is, don't touch her gear" and rightfully so! Stupid bitch....not Rosie, that fuckwit....Oh yeah don't think that I missed that wardrobe malfunction onstage there Rosie...hehehe the classic nipple slip never strays away!

Overall this edition of Sohomo was a memorable one at that. I don't how Paul (the promoter) from Sohomo does it, but getting people to come every fortnight on a Thursday to party is somewhat of a huge ask, but it works, trust me it works....and with reports of Sohomo making its debut in the windy city (Wellington idiots!) being a success, I hope that this party never ends!!!!

oh and

NO DRESS CODES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This blog highly recommends Sohomo to any traveling international hip tourists out there who's flight patterns includes Auckland. If you want more info, visit both the official page (http://www.sohomo.co.nz/) and their myspace (http://www.myspace.com/sohomoclub) page.

Special thanks to A.D.A.M., Paul from Sohomo and Mr.Andrew Tidball!

AND NOW.....NERDY FRAMES PRESENTS.. FAVORITE SOHOMO PICT MOMENTS...(MOSTLY INVOLVING ASIANS)...HEY HIPSTERRUNOFF THIS SHOULD GIVE YOU A RUN FOR YOUR MONEY!!!)
